Pardeep Narwal, an Indian kabaddi player who competes for both the Indian National Kabaddi team and the UP Yoddha in the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League, was born on February 16, 1997. He holds a number of the league’s raiding records and guided the Patna Pirates to three consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi championships.

Career in kabaddi

In Season 2, Narwal made his VIVO Pro Kabaddi debut with the Bengaluru Bulls against the Patna Pirates. He appeared in six games during the season, tallying nine raid points overall.

In Season 3, Narwal transferred to the Patna Pirates, where he developed into one of the league’s top raiders. With Rohit Kumar, Pardeep Narwal formed the league’s most effective raiding duo, scoring 194 raid points in the league stage of the season, with Kumar scoring 102 of those and 12 games and 14 matches, Pardeep Narwal scored 92 raid points. Narwal scored his first Super 10 of his career in the Pirates’ 29-25 victory over Puneri Paltan in Kolkata, where he also led both sides in scoring with 11 points on the night. However, the Pirates defeated the defending U-Mumba team.

After Rohit Kumar left for the Bengaluru Bulls, Pardeep Narwaltook over as the Pirates’ primary raider and had another outstanding season, tallying 107 raid points in 14 league-stage games with four Super 10s. The first of these came in the Pirates’ close 36-34 victory over U Mumba in Jaipur, where the raider scored a match-high 18 points.

The Pirates advanced to their second consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi final thanks to Narwal, who continued to bear the bulk of the raiding load throughout the playoffs. He scored eight points in the tight 37-33 victory over Puneri Paltan in the semifinal. With a decisive 37-29 win over the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the championship game, Narwal led the Pirates to their second VIVO Pro Kabaddi title.

In his third season with the Pirates, Narwal amassed 369 raid points and led the league in every raiding category, making it arguably the best season by a player in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history. He also managed to score a Super 10 in each of Patna Pirates’ first three games while playing in 26 of the season’s games.

After that relatively dry spell, he went on a run of eight straight matches with a Super 10, which ended against the Tamil Thalaivas, where he fell just one point shy of 10 raid points. He followed it up with just one in the next four matches.

The Haryana Steelers were the opponent for Narwal and the Pirates in the playoffs after they finished second in Zone B. The raider scored 34 raid points, a VIVO Pro Kabaddi record, including an eight-point raid, as the Pirates thrashed the Steelers 69-30. In Eliminator 3, Narwal once more set the bar high, scoring 19 raid points in his team’s 42-32 victory over Puneri Paltan.

In Qualifier 2, Narwal led his team to a slim 47-44 victory over the Bengal Warriors with 23 raid points, advancing the Pirates to their third consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi championship. Narwal kept up his incredible form in the championship match, collecting 19 raid points against Gujarat Fortunegiants to help the Pirates win 55-38 and win their third consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi championship.
