Judging the buzz surrounding the MLB Winter Meetings, Monday could be a very busy day here in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO —  MLB Winter Meetings kick into high gear in San Diego today with a string of interview opportunities with team managers and management, as well as plenty of agents roaming the Manchester Grand Hyatt working toward the best deals for their clients.

While the weather will be California postcard-like on the outside, a storm of activity could well be in the forecast inside the Grand Hyatt. Which teams could be buyers or sellers on Monday? Here’s a quick preview of what I’m watching here in San Diego.

MLB rumor: Miami Marlins could be very active

With plenty of pitching available and only the defending NL Cy Young Award winner off the block, Miami could be an active trade partner at the MLB Winter Meetings.

Could there be some pitching-for-hitting trades made by the Marlins this week? Don’t be surprised if teams like the New York Yankees, a franchise that missed out on a trade with Miami at the 2022 MLB trade deadline, continue to check to see what it would take to pry Lopez or others away.
